1. Our Philosophy
We want to make your adventure as safe, accessible, and enjoyable as possible. Therefore, all specialist technical and safety equipment required for your chosen activity is included in the course price.
All equipment provided by Climb Devon is of high quality, sourced from reputable manufacturers, and is regularly inspected and maintained to the highest safety standards.
2. What We Provide (Included in Your Price)
For all Outdoor Rock Climbing & Scrambling Courses:
• Helmet
• Harness
• Belay Device and Carabiners
• Ropes
• All specialist safety hardware (e.g., trad rack, slings, quickdraws)
For all Hill Walking & Navigation Courses:
• Laminated OS Map of the activity area
• Compass (e.g., Silva Expedition 4)
For Indoor Beginner Courses:
• Harness
• Belay Device
• Climbing Shoes
3. What You Must Bring (Your Personal Kit)
You are responsible for providing your own suitable personal clothing and equipment. Arriving without the mandatory items listed below may compromise your safety and comfort, and may result in your exclusion from the activity with no refund issued.
Mandatory for all Outdoor Courses (Climbing & Hill Walking):
• Waterproof Jacket (with a hood)
• Waterproof Trousers
• Warm Layers (e.g., fleece, synthetic jacket. Multiple thin layers are best. No cotton/denim.)
• Hat and Gloves (essential for safety and comfort, even in summer)
• Sturdy, appropriate footwear (walking boots for navigation; sticky-soled approach shoes or
sturdy trainers for climbing)
• Rucksack (approx. 30-40 litres)
• Food and plenty of Water (a warm drink in a flask is highly recommended in winter)
• Any personal medication (e.g., inhaler, antihistamines)
For Indoor Advanced Courses (Learn to Lead, 1:1 Coaching):
• You are expected to provide your own harness, belay device, and climbing shoes. This equipment is not included in the price for these advanced courses.
4. Your Responsibility for Loaned Equipment
You (the client) are responsible for the safe keeping of all specialist equipment loaned to you for the duration of the course.
Climb Devon reserves the right to charge for the loss of, or non-accidental/negligent damage to, any equipment provided to you. (This does not include normal wear and tear, such as a rope getting fuzzy or minor scuffs to a helmet).
