ABOUT ME

I started climbing in 2009, and started teaching climbing in 2012, managing climbing centres and delivering outdoor activities. I made Climb Devon in 2017 as a trading name for my self employed activities. I am qualified as a Rock Climbing Development Instructor, Mountain Leader, and Development Coach and have plenty of experience under my belt including a BA (Hons) Degree in Outdoor Adventurous Education and a current study in MRes Outdoor Learning. I’m thrilled that I am able to turn my passion into developing others to become independent hill walkers and rock climbers.

I hope you join me on one of my courses that i offer, I enjoy teaching all aspects of climbing in a simple and approachable way, making some of the most complex techniques easy to understand. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me.

WHAT DO I DO?

I offer leadership and instruction on summer mountain walking, hill & moorland walking, lowland walking, expedition skills, single pitch summer rock climbing, and climbing coaching. The majority of my courses take place in Devon but I can also run in other beautiful areas of the UK such as the; Lake District, Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons, and the Scottish Highlands. Keep an eye on my courses for locations or contact me on info@climbdevon.com to arrange a course.

MY ETHOS AND VALUES

I believe in:

  • The safe enjoyment of walking, climbing and mountaineering

  • High quality instruction and delivery of courses delivered by experienced and supportive leaders, instructors and coaches.

  • Developing independent walkers, climbers and mountaineers who practice and encourage outdoor use in a sustainable and considerate way.

  • Supporting equal access and adventure for all

  • Good leadership is more than decision-making and technical skills; it is about individual support and development.

  • Inspiring individuals to have confidence and an ability to enjoy walking, climbing and mountaineering.

All my courses are intended to educate individuals in the outdoors in order to safely enjoy our beautiful country's coastline, hills and mountains. To effectively do this and keep a close eye on the content of my courses, most courses are run directly by myself, or (if I am unavailable) only using Mountain Training nationally qualified & experienced leaders, instructors & coaches, who are members of the Mountain Training Association and are committed to continued personal development and a set of national guidelines (I’d let you know if you are getting a different instructor before confirming a booking). Likewise, our leaders also have valid outdoor first aid training and an enhanced DBS check.
